Parizad D is a photographer and visual artist from Mumbai, India. She started her career working as a commercial photographer, specializing in advertising, fashion and music. Over the years, some of her clientele continues to include - Meta, Netflix, Sony Music, LinkedIn, Dr. Reddy’s Pharmaceuticals, Tata Chemicals, Reliance Brands, Hindustan Unilever, and more. Her work can be found in various publications such as Vogue, Grazia, Rolling Stone, Wildcity, Billboard, Afropunk, etc. She was featured on the cover of Asian Photography India as an upcoming talent on their On the Horizon segment during this time.
Over the years, she has also developed a strong artistic practice by experimenting with various alternative mediums such as filmmaking, video art, analogue printing processes, the written word and more. A culmination of these can be seen in her first photobook, titled dear melancholy. This was launched and exhibited by Method Art Space, and featured in various prominent publications including The Hindustan Times, Mid-day, Platform Mag, etc, as well as longlisted for the Toto Funds the Arts Photography Award, 2022.
Since then, she has actively been pursuing work of a more interdisciplinary nature, such as creating and performing live visuals for various artists at G5A Foundation for Contemporary Culture, Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, Bangalore International Centre and art and music festivals such as Magnetic Fields and Lollapalooza, India. She was a part of the Design for Mental Health Residency hosted by Quicksand Design Studio and supported by the Wellcome Trust, Delhi, India. She was featured as Artist of the Week in a digital residency by Syntropy States - an online wellbeing platform from Surrey, UK. She was panelist in a culture workshop discussing trends in contemporary visual cultures in India for Spotify. She was selected to participate in Lyrical Gravity, Berlin a transdisciplinary online artist lab. She was a part of the Tender Absence Residency, hosted by Peira, Berlin, followed by a digital showcase. Most recently she has been selected as finalist for the Inception Grant and Tacita Dean Award, and exhibited as a part of the Inception Grant 2023 Finalist show organized by Art Incept Gallery, running parallel to India Art Fair, displayed at Stir in Delhi, India. She has been selected to participate in in the Maze Collective Residency supported by Photo South Asia.
